A Date Night Make Up Look

Not going to lie, this is supposed to be a Valentine's Day Make Up Look but who am I kidding, I am not a Valentine's Day person so I had to think of another title for this post. However I thought it wouldn't hurt to suggest it for a date night generally - whether with your folks, your siblings, your girlfriends and but of course, with the love of your life. It is February after all. It's practical, easy and very flattering, at least by my own low-key standards. On second thought, maybe I should call this If I Were To Go Out On A Date Make Up Look instead, but that's just going to be a real mouthful, eh?

Since I went all matte for this look, one of the things you need to realize when going all matte is that you have to go all moisturized first. I spritzed a good amount of Evian Mineral Water Spray all over my face and then let it sit for a few minutes. After that, I go the extra mile and apply a good amount of Celeteque Hydration Moisturizer too. Only after those will I proceed with the make up application proper.

For the base, I went for the KATE Tokyo Powderless Liquid for Cover Foundation because it gives a flawless, shine free finish that can actually last and requires minimal to no touch up. A few dabs of the no fail Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Concealer in Medium to conceal the under eye and to highlight the T-zone area. To set everything in place, I grabbed the Maybelline Clear Smooth All In One Shine Free Cake Powder in Sand Beige. Nothing remarkable on the eyebrow department, I just line them out with the darker shade and fill the gaps with the lighter one of the Paul & Joe Eyebrow Pencil Duo. I find this technique more suitable to achieve more natural looking brows. Now onto the eyes, since I have hooded lids, I wanted a little definition to make them pop out a bit. From my Inglot Freedom Palette I pick out the matte cream shadow for the lid and the dark chocolate brown for the crease and just blend the edges until an illusion of an actual crease resurfaces. I also line the outer 2/3 of my lower lashline with the same dark brown shadow to help create bigger eyes. I personally would not feel very comfortable wearing false lashes so I'd skip that and rather cheat with mascara. I do know the world of difference it gives the face which is why I make sure to curl them and apply a dash of mascara for a subtle and sweet sweep finish using the Maybelline Falsies Mascara.

What's left to deal with? Ahhh... the cheeks and the lips. I find a slightly chiseled jaw and nose line flattering for my face shape and I used the BYS Contour Trio in Sassy 01 which I personally nicked as the "trio for the non-contouring type". And lastly, to wrap up this look, a matte lip that will stay put, won't budge and won't transfer. The lipstick that ticks off all 3 is the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Pink Pong. The good thing about this liquid lipstick is that you can control the intensity and just dab a little of it for a stained lip finish rather than a full on matte lip that can be quite intimidating. When done subtly, it gives your face the pop of color it needs and your lips a lush pinkish finish. Which if you ask me is all you'll ever need to seal the deal of a perfect date night - in more ways than one.
