A Shirt Dress Of Some Sort.

One of my endless takes on the color-blocking-trend. probably the only trend I'm aware of and even cared to follow. Only because it works for me! It's so practical and easy to put up. Bold colors, bold pieces together et voila!

They say tough girls wear pink... I am in love with this particular shade of hot pink. It's a shirt dress from Mango and the material is just soft and cottony! It's ridiculously short when worn as a dress alone though IF you're mall-bound so this is how I ended up wearing it. Paired with black pants which serves as the neutral ground since I wore a pair of hot green flats from H&M to complete the color blocked look. It's my favorite shade of green too. The grass green, if you get I mean.

If you will also notice, I realized I have this thing for parking lots, empty parking lots. I keep yelling at my littlest sister to take photos of me while walking and have the empty parking lot as my background and thankfully she gave in, hence the awkward lip twitch on the second photo. This is the Mall of the Emirates' open parking spaces, by the way. Hooray for natural lightning, boo for my camera settings! HA!

So what do you think? Go easy on me. I'm half-kidding about the tough girls wear pink bit. xx

Le Birthday Dress

I am not the type of person to own a birthday dress but this year, I actually did! (See? I told you, everything changes in September, ha!) I got this black mullet dress from Mango during their Eid sales! It's a steal for 59AED! I can't remember the original tag price but it was up to 70% off so you do the math. I have had it for a month or so and immediately decided on it to be 'le birthday dress' also known as do-not-wear-until-the-8th-of-September dress. In true Joys Camille fashion, I wore it the day before because that's when we went out to celebrate my unbirthday.

It's so comfortable to wear! It's like instant elegance! I guess it's a given because it's obviously a little black dress and we all know what magic a LBD can do to a girl's confidence and overall aura. Instant boost. Just add water and boom, you feel classy and suddenly Audrey Hepburn-y in a flash. Normally, with a classic piece like a LBD, it all boils down to accessorizing/excessorizing. I decided to keep it on the low-key since it's daytime by wearing a pair of stud earrings and a gold plated necklace instead of pearls and a bold statement necklace combination. Which I'd probably wear in a future night-out with girlfriends, dropping the loafers and slipping on to a pair of black pumps.

What do you think about my take on the LBD? How will you wear yours?

Everything Changes in September

September. Take my age for an instance. Yes, I officially entered a new era called the "late 20's" as of September 8. I have been trying not to answer age questions, I stopped counting the years when I turned 21 but I figured it's actually a good thing to be 26. Twenty six. XXVI. Beinte seis. Dalawampu't anim. But at least i'm still in my early late 20's, if you get what I mean.

September. It's like an interruption to a season, you get what I mean? Goodbye, Summer but it's not quite Hello, Winter yet. I personally call it the awkward weather. The kind that will make you turn the AC off because it gets pretty chilly down the wire but then when you do, if you wait for a few minutes, you'll feel warm then finally feel hot altogether so you turn the AC on again. See what I mean? Awkwaaard.

September. 2o12 ruined September for me. I have always been head over heels in love with my birthmonth. Dreaded the fact that it's only got 3o days instead of 31 because I could always use another hapy day on my happy birthday month. Somehow, this year, it changed that I haven't been more excited to let September go. I'm not sad about it though. I just wanted it to end so I can start all over again and think of September 2o13 instead. I'm not sure if that makes sense at all? Oh well.

September. I have been away from all of you all month long... which is definitely going to change now!

This is The Girl and The City reporting back for duty! xxx
